Szeged Energia is a project to develop a state-of-the-art combined cycle gas power plant (CCGT plant) in Szeged, Csongrád county. With a capacity of 920 MW the plant can provide sufficient electricity for approximately 1.3 million households.
The total investment of 185 billion forint (600 million Euro), about one third of which will be spent locally, will significantly strengthen the local and regional economy. The project will create more than 100 permanent jobs during the operation phase and up to 1,000 jobs during the construction phase.
Using clean-burning natural gas as a fuel, the project will bring state-of-the-art technology to Szeged. The plant will be among the most efficient in Europe and contribute to meeting the growing electricity demand in Hungary and increasing the security of supply in the region.
